This fall, 24 information technology professionals from across campus will participate in the UA's inaugural IT Leadership Academy, a program designed to create a more cohesive IT professional community while building leadership capacity.

Sponsored by the Division of Human Resources and Office of the Chief Information Officer, the IT Leadership Academy is designed for current and emerging IT leaders on campus who are committed to expanding their impact and leadership expertise.

"The University is nationally recognized for its commitment to leadership development," said Allison Vaillancourt, vice president for human resources and institutional effectiveness, "and this new program is targeted to a group of professionals vital to our university's future."

A complete list of the selected 2015 IT Leadership Academy participants is available on the CIO website. The IT Leadership Academy Application Review Committee, which included leaders from across campus, selected participants based on their leadership potential, motivation and ability to identify and meet IT challenges.

The IT Leadership Academy kicks off on Sept. 25 and will continue through March 4. During that time, participants will attend a series of seven professional development sessions on a variety of topics, including strategic planning, creating a client-centered orientation, building social capital, collaborative management and topics related to the UA's Never Settle strategic plan.

"Meeting the University of Arizona's complex information technology needs requires leaders who are effective communicators, environmental scanners and relationship builders," said Michele Norin, vice president for information technology and chief information officer. "This leadership academy is one of many steps we are taking to position the UA to tackle current and emerging challenges."

More information about the academy is available at cio.arizona.edu/itla. Those who submitted applications and were not selected are encouraged to reapply for the program next year.
