Summer break is right around the corner, and registration is now open for several summer youth programs hosted by the UA. From athletics to science to writing, there are camps to suit all interests, and programs are available on and off campus. Some programs offer discounts to UA employees, and need-based scholarships may also be available.

Check out some of the programs available this summer.

"A" Camp 2015
Children ages 5-11 can experience games and activities, explore the UA campus and hear from guest speakers as part of Campus Recreation's "A" Camp. Children ages 12-15 can also engage in opportunities as Counselors in Training. "A" Camp now includes swim lessons and a "Venture Program" for chaperoned field trips to places like the Reid Park Zoo, Breakers Water Park and more.
Application deadline: Varies by camp. Register by April 10 and get a 20 percent discount off the registration fee.
Dates: Varies by camp. Each themed camp runs five days. Sessions run from May 26-July 31.
Cost: $220 ($200 for Campus Recreation members)

Arizona Swim Camp
Swimmers ages 10-18 can participate in a complete stroke technique program. Swimmers will be placed in groups based on ability, participate in evening socials and have the chance to win merit-based prizes. The camp takes place at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center and coaches include UA swim team staff.

Dates: First session May 31-June 4, second session June 7-11
Cost: $495 or $615 for overnight option

Arizona Youth University

Arizona Youth University is an educational summer enrichment program for children of all ages, offered on the UA campus. Camps are offered in partnership with a variety of campus departments and third-party vendors, bringing together outstanding campus resources, stimulating programs, and elementary, middle and high school students excited about the possibility of exploring future academic and career options. UA faculty and staff receive a 15 percent discount on day-camp registration.

Astronomy Camp 2015

Teenagers can experience the excitement of scientific inquiry through this hands-on science camp. Campers can operate research-class telescopes and learn about the universe from real scientists.

Cost: $975-$995

Bill Ryden's Sonoran Gymnastics Camp
Girls of all skill levels, ages 6-18, will receive individual gymnastics instruction in dance, trampoline, vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor exercises in the Mary Roby Gymnastics Training Center. Campers who choose to do the resident camp – limited to 35 attendees, ages 9 and up – will live in a residence hall and participate in nightly dorm activities. A second session, limited to 30 participants, for high-level competition is available for girls ages 12-18.
Application deadline: Registration is first-come, first-served and is limited to 70 campers
Dates: First session June 28-July 2, second session July 7-9
Cost: Day camp $425, plus $150 deposit with application; $375 for second family member. Resident camp $600, plus $250 deposit; $525 for second family member. Second session is $395 for resident camp and $295 for day camp.

CAMP Architecture Summer 2015
Students can get a glimpse of what it is like to be an architect with these summer day programs offered by the UA College of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture. Middle school and high school students will learn about the design profession through drawing, constructing and testing models.
Application deadline: First-come, first-served. Sessions limited to 20 participants.
Dates: Sixth through eighth grade June 8-12 and June 22-26. Ninth through 12th grade June 15-19 and June 29-July 3.
Cost: $385

David Rubio Volleyball Camp
The David Rubio Volleyball Camp offers five different camps for a variety of age groups, including Family Volleyball Clinic, Mini Camp, Position Camp, All Skills Camp and High School Team Camp. UA volleyball head coach David Rubio personally directs each camp session.

Honors Summer Academy
Motivated high school students who will have completed their junior or senior year in June have the opportunity to experience the UA through this summer program. Qualified students will take UA Honors College courses, attend off-campus field trips, live in a residence hall and prepare for the transition to college.
Application deadline: April 30
Dates: June 15- July 11
Cost: $3,664

Journey: Opportunities for Leaders of Tomorrow
J.O.L.T. is a 4-H teen camp in Heber, Arizona, that will build trust, leadership and communication skills through workshop speakers and activities in a positive environment.

Dates: June 8-12
Cost: $195 before April 15, $235 April 15-May 15, $280 after May 15

Museum Explorers Camp
Students in first through sixth grade will experience the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum like never before in this interactive day camp. Campers will see live animals, create experiments and crafts, try new foods, hike in the desert and more.

Dates: First session June 8-12, second session July 13-17
Cost: $225 ($200 for museum/Coati Kids Club members)

2015 Niya Butts Basketball Academy
Students in second through eighth grade will be taught basketball skills from staff and Wildcat women's basketball players in a fun, action-packed atmosphere. Coaches will help players put the "fun" in "fundamentals." Camp hours have been extended from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dates: First session June 1-4, second session June 22-25
Cost: $220 or $400 for both sessions

Rich Rodriguez Jr. Wildcat Football Camp
Third through eighth-graders will have the opportunity to learn about teamwork and fundamental football skills from UA head football coach Rich Rodriguez and other Wildcat football coaches.
Application deadline: First-come, first-served
Dates: June 7, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Cost: $35

Sean Miller Basketball Camp (PDF)
Wildcat basketball coaching staff will coach students in second through eighth grade. Participants will learn fundamental basketball skills and participate in competitions throughout the camp.

Dates: First session June 8-12, second session June 15-19
Cost: $275; $500 if attending both sessions (excluding lunches)

Southwest Softball Camps
Players in fourth through 12th grade can improve their softball skills with instruction from UA head softball coach Mike Candrea, other Wildcat coaching staff members and current UA players. An overnight option is available for the camp, which will be at the Hillenbrand Softball Stadium.

Dates: Regular day/night camp June 9-12, Elite over-night camp June 14-18
Cost: $430 for day camp or $530 for overnight; elite camp $725

Summer Engineering Academy
In this UA College of Engineering program, high school students will participate in hands-on labs and lectures designed to show them how they can use engineering – from aerospace to biomedical to optics – to impact the world around them. Students are exposed to the college lifestyle by living in a residence hall and participating in activities meant to get them ready for the college environment.

Summer Institute for Writing and Thinking Across the Curriculum
The UA Writing Skills Improvement Program offers this institute to high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors to help improve their writing abilities. The program will include workshops, discussions and tutoring to help students improve in all areas of writing.
Application deadline: April 30
Dates: July 6-23
Cost: $15 application fee

Tony Amato Soccer Camps
The Tony Amato Soccer Camps include four camps for students ages 5 and up. Each of the four camps available will hone campers' skills through technical and tactical instruction in a fun atmosphere.

Summer Science Academy at Biosphere 2
Middle school and high school students will spend one week at the Biosphere 2 research facility learning about ecosystem science while building leadership skills. They will stay at the Biosphere 2's casita village and do research projects in biomes.
Application deadline: First come, first served
Dates: July 12-18 for grades 7-9, July 19-25 for grades 9-12
Cost: $1,899 by end of April, $1,999 by end of May. Deposit of $250 required to reserve spot, applies toward full payment.

TechDivas & DigiDudes
The UA Eller College of Management is offering a technology summer camp for kids this June. Topics will include digital marketing, software engineering, 2D and 3D graphics, and 21st century retail and service. All-new this year, the camps will take a business-oriented approach so that campers learn how to apply technology toward a goal in a group setting. The age range is approximately grades 5-8. Each week in June is a different camp with a different topic. All camps run from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Dates: Camp 1 (digital marketing) June 1-5; Camp 2 (software engineering) June 8-12; Camp 3 (2D and 3D graphics) June 15-18; Camp 4 (21st century retail and service): June 22-26
Cost: $325 per camp or $1,100 for all four (15 percent discount)

Tucson Village Farm Summer Farm Camp
Budding farmers and chefs ages 6-11 will spend the week at Tucson Village Farm experiencing a full seed-to-table curriculum. Campers will plant, harvest, and learn cooking techniques while preparing their own farm-fresh lunch every day using the produce they’ve harvested that morning during Farm Chores. From feeding the Tucson Village Farm chickens, seeing a honeybee colony in action with our observation hive and visiting a real dairy cow to learning about soil texturing and building community through active games, campers will participate in a wide variety of educational and fun activities.
