In an effort to better serve the UA community, I am pleased to announce the Office of the CIO has reorganized the leadership team to create a more efficient and effective organization. The Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) supports the mission of the university by providing technology-related solutions, services and support for students, staff and faculty. We commit to develop and maintain a client-centric culture and continually evaluate ourselves to foster improvement.  As we maintain and improve today's technology services, we also envision and create the information technology portfolio that will best meet the university's needs in the future of education, research, and service. 

The new positions are:

Executive Director for Central IT Operations: Frank Feagans, previous Senior Director, Enterprise Applications Services, is now the Executive Director for Central Information Technology Operations. In his new role, Frank will provide vision and leadership in the development and day-to-day management of the central IT organization and operations and have direct responsibility for the University Information Technology Services organization

Executive Director for Campus IT Operations: Tom Bourgeois has joined the Office of the CIO in a new position, the Executive Director for Campus IT Operations. In this position, Tom will provide advocacy and leadership for campus IT organizations and operations, and provide services as appropriate when they benefit more than one campus IT organization. Tom will work closely with the Executive Director for Central IT, Deans Information Technology Council (DITC), Administrative Technology Advisory Council (ATAC), and the IT community at large, and brings the campus perspective to his role on the CIO leadership team.

Senior Director, Cloud Services: Derek Masseth, previous Senior Director, Infrastructure and Client Services, is now the Senior Director, Cloud Services. Derek will provide the Office of the CIO with the specific effort and organizational focus to accomplish leveraging cloud-based service offerings in ways that are fundamental and complementary to our operation—one of the core strategies highlighted in our IT Strategic Plan.

This new structure will allow us to better meet the university's needs and become more transparent, accountable, and credible. The reorganization will help eliminate silos, increase our focus on information technology optimization and cloud services, and better define a new federated support model for our campus. Our focus will remain on continually improving our services to meet the university’s technology needs even more efficiently and effectively.
