Paying Parking Tickets With Peanut Butter

For nearly two weeks in late April and early May, more than 100 citations issued by Parking & Transportation Services were paid with a sticky currency: peanut butter. The campaign, organized to benefit the Campus Pantry, brought in more than 7,500 ounces of peanut butter – nearly 500 pounds.

Robbins to Serve as UA Cares Honorary Chair

Since the campaign began in 2002, UA employees have contributed nearly $4.7 million to support nonprofit organizations and University programs. This year, contributions to the Arizona Assurance Program will be matched up to $30,000 by an anonymous donor.

UA4Food Campaign Kicks Off Today

The UA4Food campaign has begun and the goal to meet is 3,360 pounds of food. The annual food drive, which runs through April 5, has benefited the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona since 2004. To date, the UA community has contributed 206,830 pounds of food and $3,233,403.56 in donations.

Since UA Cares began in early October, employees have pledged $175,723 online and clocked in more than 400 volunteer hours. Gallery: UA Helps Provide Early Thanksgiving for Airmen, Firefighters

Service members at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, some of whom have not been home for months, were treated to a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal thanks in part to donations and volunteers from the UA. It was the first time the UA participated in the Thanksgiving Dorm Bash, with contributions of food, cash and grocery gift cards coming in from across campus.

Gallery: UA Offices Decorate Pumpkins, Pop Popcorn and Cook Chorizo for UA Cares

Many UA offices are holding fundraisers as part of the UA Cares workplace giving campaign. Several were held in the last week: the Office of the Provost's pumpkin decorating contest, which had 30 participants and raised $300; the Financial Services Office sold popcorn in the lobby of the University Services Building, raising $617.50 for the Arizona Assurance scholarship program; the Budget Office held its 17th annual chorizo breakfast sale, netting $2,311 for the Community Food Bank; and Enrollment Management raised $664.51 with a baked goods sale.
