The Women in Science and Engineering Program (WISE) works along the K-16+ and into the regional workforce pipeline to support the entry, persistence, and success of women and other gender minority students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). All programs are offered free of charge to students and include weekly coding classes for middle and high school students; a one-on-one mentorship program that pairs UArizona students with STEM professionals; an annual professional-development and networking symposium; and a for-credit internship program focused on diversifying the environmental sciences and local STEM workforce. WISE also engages in institutional research to better diagnose intersectional gender disparities in STEM as well as evaluate programmatic STEM equity interventions.
