Arizona Global has a new name – Arizona International – but its mission remains the same.

"We believe our name change best conveys our identity as the University of Arizona's dedicated department for international services and resources and helps to distinguish our purpose and operations within the evolving education landscape," said Daniel Palm, associate vice president for international affairs. Palm leads Arizona International along with John Paul Jones, dean of international education.

The name change took effect in July along with a few other changes. The Global Education and Global Locations units have been combined and are now International Education. Global Affairs has changed to International Affairs. All of the changes are reflected in the Arizona International online directory.

What isn't changing is Arizona International's mission: to drive the University's international academic engagement, from study abroad programs to international research and business opportunities, while supporting international students, faculty and scholars.

Arizona International continues to grow the University's international network of dual-degree partnerships, which now includes 13 locations across nine countries, offering 18 degree programs. New agreements have been formalized with Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University in Saudi Arabia focusing on engineering, management, innovation, sustainability and entrepreneurship; and Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing, focusing on statistics and data science, respectively. The department says those agreements can evolve as needed over time.

In addition to developing and supporting the University's international students, Arizona International works to expand the study abroad, research and internship opportunities available to local and international students. The Study Abroad team helped more than 400 students plan overseas experiences scheduled to take place throughout the summer, with opportunities available in more than 60 countries.

The department also oversees the University of Arizona Microcampus Network, the Office of Mexico Initiatives and the Global Center, a hub across from the Tyndall Avenue Garage that houses multiple Arizona International offices and several international dining options.

Accompanying the name change, Arizona International has launched a new LinkedIn profile. As an affiliate page of the University's main account, Arizona International has an additional way to connect with the global Wildcat alumni network, international faculty and scholars, students and partners to share news and milestones.

Some of the department's social media handles have changed to correspond with the new name. Followers will continue to see the same accounts, but should tag the department using these handles:
