Tribal Relations Selected as 2016 Non-Profit Organization of the Year
The UA's Office of Tribal Relations was selected as the 2016 Non-Profit Organization of the Year by the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Arizona. Tribal Relations is responsible for strengthening partnerships and advancing mutual goals between the UA and American Indian nations. Karen Francis-Begay, assistant vice president of tribal relations, accepted the award last week at a luncheon in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Poetry Center Librarian Wendy Burk Recognized as 'Emerging Leader'
Wendy Burk, assistant librarian with the Poetry Center, has received the Emerging Leader Award from the Arizona Library Association. The award recognizes individuals with strong leadership potential in order to encourage them to take on roles of increasing responsibility in library work. Burk was honored at a luncheon with other award winners last month.
Martha Hunter Receives GIDP Honored Faculty Award
Martha "Molly" Hunter has been selected to receive the Graduate Interdisciplinary Programs Honored Faculty Award. Hunter, a professor in the Department of Entomology and chair of the Entomology and Insect Science Graduate Interdisciplinary Program, received the award at the GIDP Showcase on Dec. 6. She was recognized for outstanding contributions that go above and beyond the call of duty, including chairing the GIDP Advisory Council and leading the Entomology and Insect Science GIDP since its inception in 2010.
