Members of the Staff Advisory Council and Parking and Transportation Services are asking campus community members to reach into their pantries and donate nonperishable food items for their first "Stuff the Bus" food drive.

The "bus" they hope to fill is a Cat Tran shuttle, which will be parked in the passenger drop-off zone at North Cherry Avenue and East University Boulevard on April 2.

SAC and PTS teamed up to collect the donations for the Tucson Community Food Bank as part of The University of Arizona's UA4Food campaign, coordinated by the Office of Community Relations.

Contributions will be accepted from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and organizers have specifically requested donations of peanut butter, cereal, soups and canned meats and vegetables.

President Robert N. Shelton is expected to appear at the drive at 11 a.m. to show his support and encourage the community to participate.

Since the inception of UA4Food in 2004, the UA has contributed $106,780 and 45,444 pounds of food to the Community Food Bank. The year-round campaign includes several springtime events, such as the UA4Food Faculty and Staff Drive and the Spring Fling Food Drive. Get more information and find out how you can donate at the UA4Food Web site.
