The University of Arizona's newly redesigned Web site, unveiled last week, has been temporarily taken offline due to technical difficulties.

The site started experiencing problems Tuesday, such as slow loading and slow search response times, said Kate Jensen, assistant vice president for marketing.

"That's not an acceptable situation for our University Web site," said Jensen, who led the Web site redesign.

The source of the problem is unknown, and officials with University Information Technology Services opted to take the site offline while they work to fix the issues, Jensen said.

It is not known at this time when the new site will be back online. The old UA site was put up in its place at around 5:30 p.m.

Jensen said UITS has dedicated extra resources to determining the source of the problems and is running diagnostic tests.

The University of Arizona Web site had not been overhauled in more than four years. The new home page is the seventh in University history.
