Updated June 27, 2023: Fireworks viewing is no longer permitted at University of Arizona parking garages.

With Independence Day around the corner, it's time to start organizing all the components of July 4 celebrations: picnics, parades, parties and, of course, fireworks.

Campus community members willing to brave the summer swelter to see the show at "A" Mountain won't have far to go. Some of the best spots for viewing it are right here on campus.

Parking & Transportation Services is inviting members of the UA and Tucson communities to view the fireworks from the top of the Tyndall, Main Gate and South Stadium garages.

The three garages will be open at 6 p.m. on July 4. Park for free on the lower levels and then head to the top levels, which will be blocked to vehicle traffic to allow space for lawn chairs and spectators.

A map of garage locations is available here (PDF).

Alcohol, barbecue grills, cooking appliances, fires, glass containers and sitting on parking garage walls are prohibited. Pets are allowed but must be on leashes and pet waste must be cleaned up immediately. Visitors are encouraged to bring plenty of drinking water.

For more information, contact Parking & Transportation Services at 520-626-7275 prior to the holiday.
