In a show of support for Walk Across Arizona, University of Arizona Provost Meredith Hay invites the campus community to join her for a stroll on Tuesday.

The Feb. 10 walk will begin on the east side of Old Main on the UA Mall and will likely last about 15 minutes.

"Dr. Hay wanted to encourage physical activity as a supporter of Walk Across Arizona," said Nancy Rogers, worksite wellness program nutrition and fitness counselor with Life & Work Connections and a registered dietitian.

"It will be short. Anyone who would like to encourage some physical activity in life, or get some fresh air, should join," Rogers said.

President Robert N. Shelton is scheduled to lead a walk on March 3.

The walks are part of a statewide program headed by the UA Cooperative Extension, called Walk Across Arizona, that encourages individuals to lead healthier and active lifestyles.

The program now has 50 UA teams formed, though walkers need not be in a team to participate on Tuesday. Anyone interested in forming a UA team should contact Nancy Rogers at 621-4601.
