This year's Commencement is expected to include about 4,000 graduating students and 40,000 of their friends and families. The event typically requires more than 300 volunteers.

Commencement organizers are looking for more than 300 people to volunteer at the May 10 event.

The types of volunteer positions vary, but most volunteers will be outdoors in minimal shade, helping with signage, directing graduates and guests, and handing out event programs and water bottles. Volunteers may also be asked to enforce safety policies, including keeping aisles clear and directing guests to appropriate seating areas.

Arizona Stadium will be opened to guests at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. Volunteers should plan to work from 3:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., though many are likely to be released before 10 p.m. Volunteers will be served dinner at the start of the shift and will have a break – and snacks – later. Child care for children ages 5-11 will be provided through Campus Recreation's Commencement Camp. Volunteers must complete a mandatory training session from 2-4 p.m. on May 2 in Gallagher Theater, which is located on the main floor of the Student Union Memorial Center. Volunteers also will receive a T-shirt, a clear bag, and up to two tickets to the baseball game against Arizona State on May 7.

Sign up using the online form. For more information, visit the Commencement website, or contact Carly Gieszl, assistant director of Commencement and ceremonies, at 520-621-3644 or ccgieszl@email.arizona.edu.
