Updated June 27, 2023: Fireworks viewing is no longer permitted at University of Arizona parking garages.

Independence Day in the Old Pueblo means bearing the heat for an evening of barbecuing, spending time with family and – weather conditions permitting – watching fireworks.

Luckily, some of the best spots to watch the show at "A" Mountain are right here on campus.

Parking & Transportation Services invites members of the public to view the fireworks from the tops of several parking garages on the west side of campus. Access to the top levels of Main Gate, Tyndall Avenue and South Stadium garages will begin at 6 p.m. on July 4.

Due to construction on Euclid Avenue between Speedway Boulevard and Sixth Street, Main Gate and Tyndall Avenue garages are easiest to access from the east. Main Gate Garage has two entrances: one on the north side along East First Street and another on its south side on East Second Street. Tyndall Avenue Garage, in addition to its west-facing entrance on Euclid, has another entrance on its east side along Tyndall Avenue.

The top levels of each garage will be blocked to vehicle traffic so that visitors can set up lawn chairs to view the show. Free parking will be available on all other levels of the garages.

Alcohol, barbecues, cooking appliances, fires, glass containers are prohibited. Pets are allowed but must be on leashes and pet waste must be cleaned up immediately. Visitors are encouraged to bring plenty of drinking water.

For more information, contact Parking & Transportation Services at 520-626-7275 prior to the holiday.
