Boyce Thompson Arboretum Spring Plant Sale

Boyce Thompson Arboretum
February 27, 2018

Have you visited the UA's Boyce Thompson Arboretum lately? Located near the scenic copper-mining town of Superior, about two hours' drive from campus, the arboretum has 320 acres of gardens crisscrossed by 2 miles of trails. The arboretum is affiliated with the UA College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

The arboretum invites you to its Spring Plant Sale fundraiser, which is open to the public from March 9-25. Admission to the arboretum is free during the sale – yes, FREE! – to those who present a CatCard or any other valid form of UA identification.

Arboretum gardens and trails are open as usual on Friday, March 9, but the special members-only preview shopping that day is just for BTA annual members, giving them first-pick of select plants that will be roped-off and reserved before the seasonal sale and fundraiser opens to everyone Saturday, March 10.

Wondering if BTA will have specific plants in stock? Call the gift shop staff at 520-689-2723 during daily business hours from 8am-5pm. Consider a membership – they start at $60 for a couple, and BTA members save 20 percent on plants bought during the fundraising sale of trees, shrubs, herbs, flowers, cacti and succulents.

Need planting and landscaping advice? Arboretum staff are joined by helpful, knowledgeable Master Gardener volunteers from the UA's Cooperative Extension. These Gold Canyon and Apache Junction gardeners have local experience with the plants that we sell, and will volunteer during the sale to advise and assist buyers with suggestions for trees, herbs and accent plants ideal for just about any landscaping project you might have in mind.

More information on the sale and other BTA events is available here.
