Lower Tuition Rate for National Guard, Reserve and Active Duty Military Undergraduates

Jeff Goldberg, Acting Provost
September 10, 2018

I am proud to announce a major assist for all enrolled military undergraduate students at the University of Arizona. Beginning Fall 2018, National Guard, Reserve, and Active Duty Military undergraduate students will pay $250 per credit hour, matching the maximum rate the Department of Defense pays for tuition. Military personnel are eligible to receive this benefit when enrolling in undergraduate programs at our main campus, online, or at any of our statewide distance locations.

Our servicewomen and men are a vital part of both the UA student body and the country's workforce, and we as a university are committed to their graduation and lifelong success. Tuition assistance allows our institution to boost partnership opportunities with military branches and open the doors to new students who may have looked elsewhere to secure their college degrees.

We have already identified nearly 100 eligible active duty students for tuition assistance and have begun the process of notifying them of the update. The Office of the Registrar will issue tuition assistance approvals to eligible students via their respective military education officers and portals such as Go Army and Air Force Virtual Education Center.

With the announcement, we also join our fellow Arizona Board of Regents (ABOR) universities in offering tuition assistance for active duty students.

I want to thank everyone who made this possible and hope that you will share this news with students who may be eligible. I encourage interested students to speak with their military education officers or the Office of the Registrar to confirm their eligibility.

Thanks, and Bear Down!
