In Memoriam: Thomas Alvarez

Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences
December 11, 2019

Dear Friends of Thomas Alvarez,

It is with a deep heart that I must inform you that on Saturday, November 23, our beloved friend and co-worker Thomas Alvarez passed away in his home, surrounded by his family and friends.

Thomas began working for the University of Arizona in May 1999 with the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Mechanics. In April 2000, he was hired as an accountant for Hydrology and Water Resources, and within three years he was promoted to senior business manager in what is now known as the Department of Hydrology and Atmospheric Sciences.

The family is planning a private memorial; however, because Thomas had such an impact on so many lives here at the University, the department will have a memorial for him on December 17 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Little Chapel of all Nations, 1401 East First Street. See attached map for location.

Please join us in celebrating Thomas' life as we share memories with his close friends and co-workers.

We are asking if you want to share any photos you may have with Thomas please send them to me to be displayed in a collage. Also, if you are unable to attend but have a memory to share with everyone, please send to me at ermasan@email.arizona.edu for all his friends and family to hear.
