UA4Food Campaign Begins March 5
The UA4Food campaign, a food drive that benefits the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona and the UA Campus Pantry, will begin on March 5 and will run through April 4.
Throughout the campaign, donation bins will be set up around campus. UA4Food ambassadors are needed to help coordinate food drive efforts in their departments. For more information on how to volunteer as an ambassador, call Karla Bernal Morales, senior program coordinator in Government & Community Relations, at 621-5522.
Most-needed food items include:
- Peanut butter
- Cereal and granola bars
- Canned tomato products
- Canned meat
- Canned soups
- Canned vegetables
- Canned fruit
- Rice and pasta
- Beans
Monetary donations are also accepted. According to the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, every dollar donated can be turned into four meals. You can give onlineĀ here [1].
The food drive will culminate with the Stuff the CatTran event on April 4 from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Members of the campus community will be invited to bring donations to the area near North Cherry Avenue and East University Boulevard in an effort to fill up a CatTran shuttle with food. For those who can't make it to the location, ambassadors of the food drive can schedule pickups at individual offices. This final event is organized by the Classified Staff Council, Parking & Transportation Services and UA Government & Community Relations.
