Summer 2016 Classroom Technologies and Computer Lab Changes

The Office of Student Computing Resources [1] (OSCR) and Classroom Technologies Services [2] (CTS) will implement changes during summer 2016, which may affect faculty and instructors who use centrally scheduled classrooms and/or OSCR computer labs.
Centrally Scheduled Classrooms
- Microsoft upgrades: Instructor stations in centrally scheduled classrooms and desktops in Integrated Learned Center (ILC) computer classrooms will get:
- Windows 10 operating system upgrade
- Microsoft Office 2016 added. Office 2013 is still recommended for use with Panopto lecture capture.
- Audio/Visual: Upgraded a/v capabilities will be installed in Social Science 100, Modern Languages 350, Bio East 100, CESL 102 and 103, and Chavez 110 and 111. All upgraded rooms will have instructor station computer, laptop connection, DVD player, projector, projection screen, speakers and document camera.
- Collaborative classrooms: Education 353, Engineering 304, Harvill 404, and Social Sciences 206 will be converted into collaborative learning spaces, with movable furniture and upgraded display systems with multiple viewing angles for alternate layouts and group work
OSCR Labs
- The OSCR Multimedia Learning Lab in MUS 137 is closing at the end of spring semester.
- All OSCR labs will be updated to Windows 10 and Microsoft Office 2016 and Apple OS El Capitan.
- The Multimedia Zone is expanding with additional computers and relocating to the Library's Info Commons southeast corner (by the Library main staircase, lower level).
- The OSCR ECE lab will be relocated from room 229 to 228.
