Update #3 - UA Parking & Transportation Services Parking Plan for August 30
David Heineking, Director, UA PTS
Tomorrow is the long awaited first football game against NAU. Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) would like to remind the campus community of the extensive traffic congestion that will occur as thousands of fans gather to attend the game.
PTS has provided alternative parking for permit holders around the stadium.
However, we want to ensure that the entire campus community understands that there are not enough parking spaces on campus to allow normal parking on game day and accommodate people attending the game. Please plan your day accordingly. We expect that morning traffic and parking on August 30 will flow as usual. After noon time, traffic and parking on campus will become increasingly more of a challenge.
Please also be aware that several streets will close on August 30. Cherry at Hawthorne, Highland at 4th Street, and Enke west of National Championship will close at approximately 3:30 in order to allow the Wildcat Walk to take place and to ensure the safety of the large number of pedestrians in the area.
Visitor parking may be difficult to find and as the day progresses parking in many areas will become limited. Park, Main Gate, and Tyndall garages will be available on game day for limited visitor parking. If you have a permit for an area that becomes full as game time approaches, you may be directed to another area. PTS will have staff at the garages and lots as well as signs directing vehicles to alternate parking. Please allow extra time both for the amount of traffic on the streets around campus and for navigating to/from your parking location.
As you plan for August 30, please consider your alternative transportation options. Information on carpooling, car share, Cat Tran and Sun Tran bus schedules and routes may be found at www.parking.arizona.edu [1].
If you have questions/concerns please contact 626 -PARK (7275), or PTS-ParkingInformation@email.arizona.edu [2].
PTS sincerely appreciates your understanding and support of UA Athletics.
Go Cats!
