This is the last week to apply to the ninth cohort of the Academic Leadership Institute. Applications are due Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

The Institute provides a year-long series of workshops, individual self-assessments, and collaborative discussions led by national experts in the area of leadership development. Full-day workshops are complemented by morning programs with University leaders. This program demonstrates the University of Arizona's commitment to enhancing the capacity of current and emerging leaders, and has been recognized as a national model.

Since its launch in 2010, almost 200 faculty, appointed professionals, department heads, senior administrators, and campus leaders have attended the Institute and have praised the program in the highest possible terms. A significant number of Institute fellows have been tapped to lead key projects and promoted into new leadership roles, and many point to the Institute as opening these new opportunities.

Applications must include a letter of recommendation from a writer who can speak to applicants' leadership potential. Letters from department heads, deans, and vice presidents are encouraged. Their contributions provide the best evidence of just how valuable this opportunity has been.

  • September 21, 2018 – Leadership in Action (morning workshop)
  • October 19, 2018 – Achieving Agreements (all day)
  • November 9, 2018 – Cultivating Allies and Expanding Influence (all day)
  • January 18, 2019 – Leadership in Action (morning workshop)
  • February 15, 2019 – Creativity and Innovation (all day)
  • March 15, 2019 – Leadership in Action (morning workshop)
  • April 12, 2019 – Practical Applications of Leadership (all day)
