Recognizing that innovative leadership is essential for the University of Arizona to achieve its aspirations, I am very pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the ninth cohort of the Academic Leadership Institute.

This program demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the capacity of current and emerging leaders, and has been recognized as a national model. The Institute provides a year-long series of workshops, individual self-assessments, and collaborative discussions led by national experts in the area of leadership development. Full-day workshops are complemented by morning programs with University leaders.

Since its launch in 2010, almost 200 faculty, appointed professionals, department heads, senior administrators, and campus leaders have attended the Institute and have praised the program in the highest possible terms. A significant number of Institute fellows have been tapped to lead key projects and promoted into new leadership roles, and many point to the Institute as opening these new opportunities.

Applications are due Wednesday, March 21, 2018, and must include a letter of recommendation from a writer who can speak to applicants’ leadership potential. Letters from department heads, deans, and vice presidents are encouraged. For more information and application details, visit ali.arizona.edu.   • January 18, 2019 - Leadership in Action (morning workshop)
  • February 15, 2019 - Creativity and Innovation (all day)
  • March 15, 2019 - Leadership in Action (morning workshop)
  • April 12, 2019 - Practical Applications of Leadership (all day)
