Subject: Applications now open: Paid inclusive mentoring opportunity for STEM faculty and postdocs
Date: Apr 07, 2022

A joint Pima Community College and University of Arizona team is looking for STEM faculty and postdocs who are highly motivated to mentor Pima STEM students pre-transfer while at the same time earning supplemental compensation and gaining professional development in mentoring in an inclusive, asset-based manner.

The experience will involve 1:1 mentoring, as well as participation in a cross-institution community of practice where you will receive ongoing support from peers as you develop your mentoring philosophy.

Details about the National Science Foundation grant supporting this work – "Bridging Faculty and Student Cultures: Culturally Responsive Support for STEM Students Transferring Between Two- and Four-Year Hispanic Serving Institutions" – along with other relevant details and a brief online application are available by clicking the link.

Eligibility:

  • Research and teaching faculty (including instructors, lecturers and postdocs) at the University of Arizona or Pima Community College
  • Must be teaching or conducting research in STEM fields
  • Preferred STEM fields for faculty: biological sciences, physical sciences, mathematical sciences, computer and information sciences, geosciences and related fields, and engineering. (Eligible student participants for this program must be pursuing a degree in one of these fields due to the restrictions of our S-STEM grant.)
