Subject: Benefits Open Enrollment Now Open, Runs Through Nov. 8
Date: Oct 21, 2019

Benefits Open Enrollment begins 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, and continues until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8. During this time, you may enroll in, cancel, or change your plan elections for:

  • Medical
  • Dental
  • Vision
  • Supplemental and dependent life
  • Short-term disability
  • Flexible spending accounts (FSA)

The enrollment has a new look this year! Access it from a computer, tablet, or smartphone. To access your enrollment now:

  1. Log in to UAccess Employee.
  2. Select the UA Employee Main Homepage.
  3. Select the Benefits Open Enrollment tile.

What is changing in 2020?

Deductibles will increase for the EPO, PPO, HSA, and UA Alternative Health Plans. All medical plan premiums, copays, and coinsurance will remain the same.

Other changes:

  • The out-of-pocket maximum is increasing for the PPO plan.
  • The Hartford will be replaced by Securian as a supplemental and dependent life insurance provider with reduced rates. During this Open Enrollment only, you may elect any level of supplemental life coverage with Securian up to three times your salary or $500,000, whichever is less.
  • The Hartford will be replaced by MetLife as a short-term disability provider with a reduced rate.

If you are currently enrolled in a plan with The Hartford and do not take action during Open Enrollment, you will automatically be enrolled in the same level of coverage with the new provider(s) in 2020.

Learn more about the changes here.

Do I need to do anything during this year's Open Enrollment?

You need to take action only if:

  1. You want to participate, or continue participating, in the Healthcare and/or Dependent Care FSA plans in 2020. FSA elections do not automatically carry over from year to year.
  2. You want to make changes to your other current benefits.

What happens if I do nothing?

If you do not make any changes, your current benefit elections, with the exception of FSA, will automatically carry over into the 2020 plan year. Remember, outside of Open Enrollment, you can only change your elections if you experience a qualifying life event, such as marriage, birth of a child, or loss of other coverage.
