Subject: Campus Traffic and Parking During Tucson Festival of Books

Date: March 11, 2014

During the construction of tents for the Tucson Festival of Books, University Boulevard between Panels A at Old Main and Cherry Avenue, also from Cherry Avenue to Campbell Avenue, may be closed in stages during traffic deliveries of equipment, supplies and set-up. There are multiple 40-foot box trucks and 4-6 forklifts in area. The sections that are being worked in are barricaded closed with saw horses, delineators and caution tape.

There are signs indicating there is construction ahead and walk your bike signs strategically placed. We have maintained north and south riding access, west of Panel A, on Cherry, and just east of Cactus Garden.

Ideally, this area should be kept clear but if there is a need, bikes should be walked on sidewalk paths within the closure areas. Pedestrians should use caution while walking in this area. The closure is requested by Risk Management and supported by Parking and Transportation.

The Tucson Festival of Books is this weekend, March 15-16. Click here for a parking map.

The campus community should take caution in these areas through March 21.
