Civic Study Recruitment

Andrea Romero
December 4, 2017

Dear colleagues,

I hope you are doing well. I am following up with you about a new research study focused on civic engagement, views about inequality, and education among college students. We are still recruiting undergraduate students, and we would like to recruit from your classes in this last week of the semester.

As a reminder, students who choose to participate will take part in three online surveys during the Fall 2017, Spring 2018, and Fall 2018 semesters. The survey takes about 20 minutes to complete. Students can enter a drawing for a $25 gift card to Amazon.  Additionally, a small group of these students will be asked to participate in focus groups in early Spring 2018. For more info, see the attached flyer or check out our study website.

Keeping in mind the end of semester rush, would you be willing to let us recruit students from your classes and organizations this semester?

  • If you give us permission, a research assistant will visit your next class meeting to provide information about the study and flyers to your students. This will take no more than 5 minutes.
  • If you agree, please respond to to let us know what day and time is best. A research assistant will email you to confirm the time and date.
  • Please also feel free to post the flyer on your D2L page, and please consider offering extra credit to students who complete the survey. If you would like students to receive extra credit for participating, they can print out (or screen shot) the last page of the survey as documentation.

Thank you for your time! Happy Holidays,

Andrea and the Civic Study Research Team
