Subject: Classroom Technology Services Announces New Policy for Equipment Rentals
Date: August 23, 2013
Classroom Technology Services, which provides technology support to all UA faculty who use audiovisual equipment in centrally scheduled classrooms, has announced a new billable and non-billable equipment rental policy effective Aug. 23, 2013.
One of the main benefits of the new policy is that it eliminates rental equipment costs for UA instructors, departments and ASUA student groups that utilize equipment in centrally scheduled classrooms during normal business hours. Costs will be incurred for events if delivery of equipment is needed, there is an attendance fee or the event is hosted by an outside organization.
"We were able to move toward this model because many of the centrally scheduled classrooms have been upgraded over the past year and a half with a standard technology configuration," said Patti Fastje, director of client services for UITS. "This has reduced the need for additional equipment rentals and allows us to offer free equipment usage for UA instructors, departments and student groups that meet policy guidelines."
Non billable events include:
- Courses listed in the “Schedule of Classesâ€
- Departmental and ASUA student groups events in centrally scheduled classrooms during regular business hour
- University Orientation
- Student Group pick-up of equipment
Billable events include:
- Departmental and ASUA recognized Student Group events requiring delivery of equipment or after hour events
- Departmental events that charge a fee to attend
- Outside organizations using University Facilities
