Date: Sep 16, 2021

The University of Arizona now offers Cats TakeAway Testing in addition to the existing in-person COVID-19 testing locations. The new testing program allows students, employees and designated campus colleagues to pick up a PCR saline gargle test kit and drop off their sample at one of 10 designated locations on the Tucson campus. Additional locations are planned for other University campuses in Arizona. No appointments are required.

Those who experience COVID-19 symptoms can go to the Campus Health TakeAway Testing location to pick up a test kit and drop off their sample.

How TakeAway Testing Works

Pick up a test kit from a designated on-campus location (see list below).

Before you begin the process, find an appropriate place away from groups of people and high-traffic areas, such as your office, dorm room, home, personal vehicle or outside (where you can be physically distanced from others). Do not collect your sample at or near the drop-off location. Do not eat, drink, use mouthwash, brush your teeth, chew gum, smoke or vape for 30 minutes before your saline gargle test.

Scan the QR code on the test kit bag using your smartphone and follow the instructions on the website. You will be prompted to log in using your NetID in order to scan the QR code or enter the 7-digit number on your test tube. You must scan and register the tube in the kit in order to receive your test results.

Once you scan the code on your test tube, you have 4 hours to collect and drop off your sample at one of the campus stations.

TakeAway test results are usually available within 2 business days of sample drop-off. Results for samples dropped off on Friday, Saturday or Sunday are usually available by Monday afternoon.
