Subject: Creating Change Together During Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Date: Apr 11, 2023

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (#SAAM2023) in the U.S. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence, educate communities about prevention and learn how to support victims and survivors.

Please join the Office of Institutional Equity at the SAAM Resource Fair: Creating Change Together event on April 17, from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. on the UA Mall.

Visit the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE) website for links to hotlines, resources, campus and community services. Watch this video from Mary Beth Tucker, vice president of Equity and the University Title IX coordinator, who shares a brief message about the resources and support available at the University and how you can help raise awareness. While you are there, download custom Zoom/Teams backgrounds for your use in meetings or classes.

The SBS Consortium for Gender-Based Violence has compiled a list of more campus events taking place. Tucson community events are listed on the Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault website.

Across the University, there are many offices and individuals working to ensure that anyone who reports being impacted by gender-based violence, including sexual assault, receives a caring and compassionate response and has access to available resources and support. If your college or division is holding a SAAM event this month, please add it to the University Calendar and notify the Office of Institutional Equity

If you or someone you know needs support, it is available for employees on the Office of Equity employee support website, and for students on the student support website.
