David Lane Promoted to Executive Director, Infrastructure and Foundational Technologies

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce David Lane has been promoted to Executive Director of Infrastructure and Foundational Technologies at University Information Technology Services (UITS) upon the completion of a competitive recruitment process. David's new role was effective Monday, February 12, 2018.

David has been Interim Executive Director of Infrastructure and Foundational Technologies since August 2017. During that time, David has participated in UITS' budgeting and strategic planning processes allowing him to make informed decisions around personnel capacity and professional development needs. He has a clear understanding of how enterprise information technology services can be utilized to benefit the campus mission.

David will continue to serve on the UITS executive leadership team and report to me. He will be responsible for working closely with administrative partners across campus to implement cutting-edge tools and technologies to maximize interactions with students and the campus community. He will manage and oversee the enterprise network and data center operations, voice team, cloud infrastructure, the estimating and engineering group, our warehouse and field technicians, and telecommunications customer service.

David has more than 25 years of experience in electrical engineering, communications distribution designing, and IT service management. He has been with UITS for the past 18 years, most recently as Assistant Director of Estimating & Engineering, where he had a successful track record of building cross-functional teams that delivered large campus projects on time and within budget.
