Subject: Disclosure of Significant Financial Interests - New Updates

Date: July 15, 2013

Dear Research Investigators,

I am pleased to announce that the University’s Conflict of Interest (COI) Disclosure of Significant Financial Interests online form has been updated to better assist you in your completion of the disclosure requirements.

The most notable updates are:

  • Live link to the UAccess Research System.
    • All of your awards and proposals will be automatically added to your disclosure via this link. If you have active Significant Financial Interests, the identifying information, such as Sponsor Name, project title, and award number, will be automatically updated in your disclosure.
      • NOTE: If you are not named on the award or proposal, you will still need to enter this information manually.
  • Active/Inactive Interests.
    • When you change your financial interest from active to inactive, you will be asked to select a reason for setting it to inactive, and provide the date that the interest went from being active to inactive.
    • When an interest is set to inactive, you will no longer be asked to provide information regarding its relatedness to your individual research projects.
  • PHS Travel.
    • When entering a financial entity that has only sponsored travel, you can now select “PHS Travel Only” as a status code.
    • When selecting this option, you will no longer be asked to provide information regarding relatedness to your individual research projects.

We are continually working to make this system better for your use.  Please feel free to share your comments or suggestions regarding the system.  We value your opinion and strive to create a system that works for you.

Comments or suggestions can be sent to me via phone and 520-626-8266 or e-mail at coi@email.arizona.edu. Please visit our website for additional information on COI disclosure and training requirements: http://www.orcr.arizona.edu/coi.

Thank you,

Victoria Tugade, COI Officer
