Emergency Preparedness Exercise on Main Campus

To: UA Campus

UA Police Department

Subject: Emergency Preparedness Exercise on Main Campus

Date: April 26, 2016

On May 4, the University of Arizona Police Department will be participating in a countywide emergency exercise, called "A Bad Day in Pima County." UAPD will be exercising response and preparedness as part of ongoing campus emergency planning and coordination. The exercise is expected to begin around 7 a.m. and conclude at approximately 10 a.m.

To help ensure the integrity of the exercise, the specific location of the exercise will not be announced. Signs with "Exercise in Progress" will be posted around the area impacted by the exercise. Several streets may be blocked for a period of time around the exercise location, however traffic should not be adversely impacted. We anticipate minimal impact to campus day-to-day operations.

It is important to note there will be no disruption to UAPD's services to the UA community during the exercise. UAlert will not be activated for this exercise.

This exercise is a cooperative effort with other first responders of both fire and police agencies to test the UAPD's continuity of operations.
