Innovations in Healthy Aging Living Labs Seed Grants

Health Sciences
October 13, 2021

Innovations in Healthy Aging (IHA), a strategic priority for the University of Arizona Health Sciences, announces the availability of awards up to $40,000 each for pilot projects on research topics focused on aging. The deadline to apply is Thursday, October 28, at 5 p.m.

The current IHA call is soliciting proposals from interdisciplinary University of Arizona teams to contribute their expertise to “Living Labs” with the goal of testing the impact of environmental factors on healthy aging and wellbeing outcomes (outcomes include behavioral, social and emotional outcomes), studies that seek to implement ongoing health assessment and improve self-management of chronic conditions.

For the purposes of the IHA Living Labs seed grants opportunity, any existing space that can be equipped with sensors, or any technology that allows for manipulation of one or more environmental elements, in order to test its impacts on health outcomes, is appropriate for use as a Living Lab.

Proposals must foster collaborative efforts between faculty in the health sciences and other disciplines and colleges and/or on other University of Arizona campuses.

In addition, IHA supports the excellence of the University's early-career investigators and thus strongly encourages early-career faculty with novel research ideas to apply to this opportunity.
