Subject: Invitation to Future Leaders Workshops
Date: Sep 21, 2020

Dear faculty and staff,

Please consider joining the fall Future Leaders Workshops series, part of the Inclusive Leadership Program. The intended goal of the Inclusive Leadership Program is to build a more inclusive culture at the University of Arizona in which all students, staff and faculty feel that they are valued, that they belong, and that they can bring their authentic selves to campus every day.

The Future Leaders Workshops offer practical leadership skills centered on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) topics. Workshops are open to all staff and faculty interested in enhancing their inclusive leadership skills. This fall, the workshops will be delivered through Zoom within 30 minutes. Some workshops have an optional extra 15 minutes at the end for questions. Workshops will be recorded with closed captioning and posted at a later date.

The first workshop, Leading with Empathy, will occur on Thursday, Oct 1, from 12:00-12:30 (RSVP). Presenters Elizabeth Nguyễn and Christina Kalel will teach participants how to take a trauma-informed approach to leading in a pandemic and during other distressing times. On Monday, Oct 12, at 12:00 (RSVP), Emily Lyons will encourage participants to incorporate abolitionist thinking into their leadership approach and to begin to map avenues to more productive partnerships with students in the workshop, Abolition In and Out of the Classroom: Starting a Conversation. There is more information about the program is available online.
