John McKnight to Speak on 'Building a Village That Can Raise Its Children'

Disability Resources
April 23, 2013

The Aurora Foundation of Southern Arizona’s 2nd Annual Ideas Making a Difference Thought Leaders Speaker Series presents

“Building a Village That Can Raise Its Children”

by Dr. John McKnight

McKnight is internationally recognized for his critique of how our societal systems and organizations pathologize "needs" and ignore "capacities." This not only diminishes those supposedly being helped, but their communities as well. By shifting the paradigm from needs-based to asset-based, communities could maximize their human resources and raise their children with moral strength and the capacity to be competent, compassionate, and caring adults.
