Subject: March 25: Lunch & Learn with UArizona CALS Startup GenetiRate, Benjamin Renquist
Date: Mar 11, 2020

Through his research, CALS Associate Professor Benjamin Renquist invented an assay that measures the metabolic rate of aquatic animals, from fish to mollusks to crustaceans, and identifies those individuals that will grow more quickly.

Working with Tech Launch Arizona, the University patented the technologies and licensed them to Renquists' startup, GenetiRate. Since that time, the company has experienced growth and success, including designation as one of only two companies worldwide honored with the North Atlantic Seafood Forum (NASF) Seafood Innovation Award in 2019.

Join us for lunch and a discussion with Dr. Renquist, hear his story, and learn what it takes to cultivate impactful ideas born in the lab and bring them to the world through commercial pathways. Tod McCauley, TLA Sr. Licensing Manager for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, will moderate our discussion.

The Lunch & Learn session is scheduled for Wednesday, March 25 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in Environment and Natural Resources 2, room S215.

While this talk will be geared toward faculty, researchers, graduate students and staff, all are welcome.

Register and join us. We look forward to seeing you there.
