Cynthia Jane "CJ" Doane, associate director of University Animal Care (UAC), will become UAC director and attending veterinarian, effective July 1. She will replace David Besselsen, who is stepping down from that role and retaining his faculty position of UAC veterinary specialist.

In her new position, Doane will oversee all aspects of the animal care and use program: husbandry and veterinary care, regulatory compliance, animal facility infrastructure, and animal research facilitation.

Doane has worked in UAC veterinary capacities since 2012 and has served as UAC associate director since 2014. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Cognitive Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from University of California, Davis, School of Veterinary Medicine.
