Subject: New Resource for Undergraduate Research

Date: March 10, 2017

All University of Arizona faculty, students and staff are now able to join the Council on Undergraduate Research at no cost. The University has upgraded to an Enhanced Institutional Membership in the Council on Undergraduate Research, known as CUR, which works with agencies, foundations and faculty to promote undergraduate research opportunities. The organization represents more than 10,000 individuals at over 650 colleges and universities.

CUR members will have access to: the CUR Quarterly journal and other publications; discounts for workshops, consulting and program reviews; and the ability to participate in meetings, such as CUR's mini-conference and annual business meeting to be held in Flagstaff in June.

The expanded membership offering is part of a campus-wide effort to increase undergraduate research opportunities while sharing the UA’s accomplishments on the national stage.

The UA’s CUR membership is supported by a consortium including the UA's Undergraduate Biology Research Program; the Office of Research, Discovery and Innovation; the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Academic Initiatives and Student Success; the University of Arizona Health Sciences; the Honors College; and the Colleges of Science and Agriculture and Life Sciences.

The campus community can enroll in CUR (at no cost) by following these instructions:

1. Begin at the Individual Online Application, located here:

2. When you get to the Select Institution dropdown, be sure to select University of Arizona from the list. When you select University of Arizona you will see a popup box asking to confirm your institution; click "OK."

3. Complete the steps of the application and you will be able to register as a member under the University of Arizona's membership umbrella.

For more information about the membership offering and opportunities to engage in leadership positions, contact Patrick X. Rault, associate professor and program director of mathematics at UA South and nationally elected member of CUR's governing council, at
