PAC-12 Zero Waste Challenge Feb. 25

Sustainable UA
February 17, 2017

The University of Arizona will be competing in the Pac-12 Zero Waste Challenge again and we need our fans and guests to help us divert more waste from the landfill!

On Feb. 25, the Wildcats will duke it out on the court with UCLA at 6:15 p.m. Before, during, and after the event, UA Athletics, the Office of Sustainability, Greening the Game, Students for Sustainability, Compost Cats, Green Team, Facilities Management, Zona Zoo and the UA Student Unions will work together to participate in the Pac-12 Zero Waste Challenge.

Our first season competing, we took third place and last season we received an honorable mention for our efforts. We can do better.

Sustainable UA will be setting up green stations, which include labeled containers for compostable materials, trash and recyclables. The team will be out interacting with the public encouraging them to participate in our diversion efforts, as well as sharing campus recycling and compost efforts.

Help us win the Pac-12 Zero Waste Competition, keep our athletic events green and continue to be leaders in sustainability. During the game, we will have waste diversion stations everywhere, as well as a spirited student teams ready to assist you. To do your part, just bring your trash to a green station conveniently located around Mckale. We will do the rest so you can enjoy cheering on your Wildcats!
