Subject: Parking Alert - Thursday Sept. 3 Football Game

Date: September 1, 2015

As the September 3 football game against UTSA rapidly approaches, Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) would like to remind the campus community of the large amount of traffic that will occur when almost 60,000 fans gather to attend the game. Attending Athletic events and pre-game festivities allows the entire community to join in the spirit of the University. These athletic events also bring many dollars in scholarships, funds for housing support, general revenue and paid wages. Revenue from athletic events offsets state tax dollars that would otherwise be used to pay student and department costs. This provides a national audience and a chance to showcase our beautiful campus. While this event is a benefit to the UA, it will also have some impact on our normal day-to-day activities.

PTS will provide alternative parking for permit holders around the stadium. However, we want to ensure that the entire campus community recognizes that parking and traffic on campus will become very congested as people arrive to attend the game. Please plan your day accordingly.

We expect that traffic and parking on the morning of September 3 will flow as usual. After noon time, traffic and parking on campus will increasingly become more of a challenge.

Visitor parking may be difficult to find, and as the day progresses parking in many areas will become limited. Park, Main Gate, Highland and Tyndall garages will be available on game day for limited visitor parking. If you have a permit for an area that becomes full as game time approaches, you may be directed to another area. PTS will have staff at many of the garages and lots, as well as signs directing vehicles to alternate parking. Please allow extra time, both for the amount of traffic on the streets around campus and for navigating to/from your alternate parking location.

Although our campus community is likely to experience some inconvenience and disruption associated with this Thursday game, we hope you will join us in working to make this plan as successful as possible. We welcome any ideas or comments.

Please contact UA Parking & Transportation Services at 626 –PARK (7275) or PTS-ParkingInformation@email.arizona.edu if you have any questions or concerns regarding this notice. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support of UA Athletics. Go Cats!
