RDI Grants – Extended Deadline is May 8

Research, Discovery & Innovation
April 20, 2017

Research, Discovery & Innovation wants to remind researchers that the deadline for upcoming faculty grants has been extended to May 8. Applications and instructions for the grants – Accelerate for Success and the Industry Engagement and Interdisciplinary Link Student Team Awards – are available on the Research Gateway.

The Accelerate for Success grant is designed to catalyze or scale strategic transdisciplinary research programs by creating teams, broadening partnerships and supporting the development and submission of extramural proposals. Awards are up to $100,000 to teams that target external funding proposals up to $2 million in direct costs and up to $250,000 to teams that target external funding proposals over $2 million in direct costs. The grants must be leveraged to acquire external support for the proposed research or scholarly activity.

The Industry Engagement and Interdisciplinary Link Student Team Awards grant are designed to catalyze new extramural research and build new intramural collaborations. Awards support Graduate Research Assistants (salary, ERE, tuition remission, travel), undergraduate research assistants and core facility use. Student Team awards must be leveraged to acquire external support for the proposed research.

  • Track 1: Interdisciplinary Link extend a single faculty member's funded research (i.e., existing grant) into new interdisciplinary efforts with a collaborator in another discipline (typically in another college) via a co-mentored GRA.
  • Track 2: Industry Engagement awards extend a newly funded UA-industry agreement via a co-mentored GRA. The GRA should work in industry and gain experience supervising and mentoring undergraduates conducting the industry-supported work.
