Research, Innovation & Impact's Emily Kotay Selected As a Fulbright U.S. Scholar for 2022-2023

Congratulations to Emily Kotay upon her selection as a Fulbright U.S. Scholar for 2022-2023. Kotay will be participating in the Fulbright Germany Seminar for U.S. Administrators in International Education.

The Fulbright Scholar Awards are prestigious and competitive fellowships that provide unique opportunities for scholars to teach and conduct research abroad. Fulbright scholars also play a critical role in U.S. public diplomacy, establishing long-term relationships between people and nations.

In her role in the Office of International Research – part of Research, Innovation & Impact's Research Development Services – Kotay has assisted many faculty and students in applying for the Fulbright program. Now the University is pleased to see her as a recipient in her own right. Nationwide, alumni include 61 Nobel Laureates, 89 Pulitzer Prize winners, 76 MacArthur Fellows, and thousands of leaders and world-renowned experts in academia and many other fields across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors.

Independent research and participant surveys confirm that Fulbright exchange experiences lead to greater international co-publication, continued international exchange, and stronger cross-cultural communication skills.

Fulbright awards are designed to primarily cover in-country expenses related to specific projects, and we recognize that by providing course coverage, continued benefits, salary supplements, and other support, Scholars' home institutions play an important role in enabling them to accept the award and take full advantage of this opportunity. The Fulbright Program is deeply grateful for the generous support that these institutions provide to award recipients, ensuring the continued success of both their faculty and the program.
