Sixth Street/Fifth Street Proposed Reconstruction & Survey

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM) has asked for the campus community's feedback on this roadway project. Please consider viewing the information provided in the link and completing the survey.

DTM is scheduled to reconstruct Fifth Street from Country Club Road to Wilmot Road as part of the Proposition 101 Tucson Delivers Better Streets Program. Concurrently, there is a scheduled Prop 407 Tucson Delivers Strong Connections project scheduled on Sixth Street/Fifth Street from Campbell Avenue to Alvernon Way that has provided an opportunity for the entire section of roadway to be considered for safety and operational improvements which would involve converting the street from the existing four lane configuration to three lanes, which would remove one vehicle lane in each direction while adding a center turn lane and bike lanes. Additionally, as part of Proposition 407, Fifth Street and Sixth Street from Campbell to Alvernon will receive complete and connected sidewalks on both sides of the road, enhanced street crossings, street lighting, and landscaping for shade.
