The Office of General Education is excited to invite applications from qualified current faculty, staff, administrators and graduate students to teach two sections of UNIV 101 – Introduction to the General Education Experience this fall. As you may know, UNIV 101 is a 1-unit course that all first-year students will take as a part of the new General Education curriculum at the University of Arizona. This course provides a foundation for General Education to help students develop an understanding of the purpose, value and structure of General Education at the University of Arizona while practicing the skill of reflection as a part of the learning process. Students will also begin the initial stages of working on their Gen Ed learning ePortfolio, a tool that they will use throughout their Gen Ed studies.

Please see the Faculty/Staff/Administrator and Graduate Student job descriptions for a description of the role, eligibility and compensation. Links to the application can also be found in these job descriptions.

This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a team of over 100 instructors delivering this course. Led by a team of full-time faculty, instructors selected can expect to be in class 50 minutes a week per section, hold office hours or be available by appointment, and provide feedback and grading to students. A common syllabus, reading, D2L shell, and course facilitation guide will be provided to each instructor as a part of orientation/training.

We hope that you will consider applying and forwarding this to colleagues who may have missed the announcement. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Tom Murray (tam@arizona.edu) or Devon Thomas (devonthomas@arizona.edu).
