University of Arizona Captioning Guidelines
The University is committed to creating accessible and inclusive experiences for all students, faculty, staff and visitors; please be advised that affordable, professional video captioning services are available for University departments to ensure their content is captioned.
To meet this important goal, departments must caption:
- Videos posted on public department webpages or social media and video channels.
- Videos that will be shown at a workshop or event without an RSVP process.
Departments are strongly encouraged to caption:
- Content that requires a NetID for access.
- Non-public facing content that is not mandatory for students or employees.
Auto-generated captions
Machine-generated auto-captions/transcripts are beneficial in many circumstances, however, they are not accurate enough to be ADA-compliant.
Disability-related accommodations
The Disability Resource Center (DRC) will continue to provide captioning support for all disability-related accommodation requests for classes and events requiring an RSVP.
- Use a disability access statement to welcome disability-related requests.
