On Jan. 1, University Garage and Motor Pool operations moved from Facilities Management to Parking & Transportation Services to join the team that oversees transit, rideshare, carpool, bicycle programs and transportation planning. This change will support a more holistic approach to transportation services on campus and help achieve the mission of the department. Faculty and staff will experience a seamless transition in the way they request and access these services.

About the Motor Pool

The University motor pool and related services are available to all faculty, staff and DCCs across departments and units. The motor pool is a convenient and economical option for renting vehicles for University-sponsored events and business.

Benefits of using the motor pool include:

  • Insurance: When you rent a vehicle through the motor pool, you are automatically insured through the State of Arizona.
  • Gas included and no tax: The cost of fuel and tax are included in the vehicle rental cost. In addition, a gas card is provided for longer trips.
  • Free user parking: You may park at no cost in a lot monitored by surveillance cameras, with an emergency phone and an after-hours key drop box.
  • Weekend hours: The motor pool offers weekend hours for additional flexibility.
  • Safe and reliable fleet: The motor pool maintains a modern fleet of vehicles. Each vehicle undergoes a thorough inspection before and after each use, as well as preventive maintenance, annual safety and emissions checks.

About Garage Services

The University garage services are available to all faculty, staff and DCCs across departments and units, at reasonable rates, to service University-owned vehicles, including golf carts and trailers.

Garage services include:

  • Emissions testing
  • Safety inspections
  • Full-service, ASE-certified vehicle repair
  • On-site fueling
  • Vehicle titling/registration
  • Self-serve car wash and vacuum service

The University Garage and Motor Pool are located at 1597 E. 16th St. in Tucson.
