University Libraries to Celebrate Open Education Week
The goal of Open Education Week is to raise awareness about free and open educational opportunities that exist for everyone, everywhere, right now. University Libraries are sponsoring two events in March:
Kickoff Event
- 12:30-2:30 pm, Monday, March 26
- Lobby of Main Library
Enjoy some food and learn about open educational resources – free, customizable course materials that saved UA students an estimated $535,400 from 2015-17. We'll have giant whiteboards set up for students to answer, "If I didn't have to buy textbooks, I could ..."
Creative Commons Workshop
- 1-2 pm, Thursday, March 29
- Main Library, Room A313/314
Open Education Librarian Cheryl Cuillier will lead a Creative Commons workshop. She'll cover the various Creative Commons licenses, what to consider when choosing a license, where to find lots of CC-licensed material (including open textbooks), and much more. Learn how to create, remix, and share your work with the world! Snacks will be provided. Please RSVP for the workshop.
For more information about Open Education Week or open educational resources, please contact Cuillier at (520) 310-9874 or ccuillie@email.arizona.edu.
