Subject: University Libraries Launch New Online Search Tool on July 20
Date: Jul 23, 2018
On July 20, the University Libraries updated the current library catalog and Summon search tool with a new system to help you find and get what you need. This cloud-based system is part of a tri-university collaboration with the University of Arizona, Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University to support greater fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency.
What's changing?
- We'll automatically renew your books for you, unless there's a hold on the book or your account isn't in good standing.
- You'll now have more time – 10 days instead of seven – to pick up materials on hold.
- We aren't charging hourly/daily late fees for most library materials anymore, but we'll continue to have full replacement charges and processing fees for materials that aren't returned by the due date.
- We're replacing print receipts with email receipts, and you can still track due dates by logging into your library account.
What's staying the same?
- Immediately access electronic databases, online journals and ebooks.
- Search for library resources from a single search box.
- Do advanced searches.
- See materials that are available in real-time.
- Keep materials for the same amount of time as before.
- Request items that we don't have.
- Pay fees and fines online.
If you can’t find what you need, contact your librarian or ask us.
