Vertically Integrated Projects at the University of Arizona is pleased to announce the launch of a search for an inaugural Faculty Director.

The VIP program is a scalable, cost-effective and equitable approach to engaging undergraduate and graduate students in research and creative inquiry. Within the VIP initiative, multidisciplinary teams align student efforts with faculty research priorities in long-term, large-scale projects. The program's highly successful model has been rigorously evaluated and refined nationally over more than two decades, resulting in positive outcomes in student retention; self-efficacy; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and other critical metrics.

The successful candidate will receive the additional title of Faculty Director and a course buyout for the academic year, along with a summer stipend, funded through an award from the Provost's Investment Fund (PIF) for the 2022-2023 academic year. Under the guidance of Research, Innovation & Impact (RII); the Office of the Provost; the W.A. Franke Honors College; deans of participating colleges; and other key stakeholders, the Faculty Director will be charged with designing and implementing major aspects of the program, including faculty recruitment, advancement of industry and other external partnerships, relationship-building within the international VIP Consortium, and student outreach and enrollment – particularly with students underrepresented in research and creative inquiry.
