Connections are important.

They can lead to new learning opportunities, professional growth and lifelong friendships. Now, the UA Alumni Association is making it easier for Wildcats to make connections, reach their career goals and stay connected to the UA with the launch of the Bear Down Network.

"We're excited to unveil the Bear Down Network because it leverages the power of the UA alumni community," said Melinda Burke, president of the UA Alumni Association and UA vice president for alumni relations. "We envision it will become a valuable career and connections resource for the entire University community, including faculty and staff members."

The Bear Down Network is an initiative under Pillar 1 of the UA strategic plan. The pillar, named Wildcat Journey, seeks to prepare students with the skills and mindsets to lead in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Today, the Bear Down Network has more than 1,000 members and is accessible through a mobile app on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Wondering why you should join? Here are five reasons.

1. Connect with accomplished Wildcats.

Maybe you're looking for an industry expert to be a guest speaker or mentor for your students. Through the Bear Down Network directory, you can find alumni who are willing to help.

2. Share your success.

We know UA faculty and staff are a talented and accomplished group. Share your success stories, including publications, awards and recognition, with our Wildcat community on the main and group feeds.

3. Mentor up-and-coming UA leaders.

Faculty and staff members are passionate about helping students and fellow Wildcats. Now, you can do so in a meaningful way by offering your time and expertise as a mentor.

4. Discover job opportunities and alumni talent.

Whether you're looking to advance your career or looking to fill an opening with a talented Wildcat, you can do so on our Alumni Jobs board, which has more than 260 postings.

5. Receive/provide the inside scoop on UA news and events.

Keep the UA community up to date with events you're participating in or planning. Through the Bear Down Network, it's easy to post events and find UA events happening in Tucson and around the world.
