Staff Council moves March meeting date – topics to include financial plan, council bylaws

Staff Council members will hear updates on the University's financial action plan as well as the approval process for council bylaws at the organization's March meeting. The meeting, which is usually held the last Tuesday of the month, has been moved to Thursday, March 28, due to a campus visit by a candidate for senior vice president for academic affairs and provost.

The meeting will include a financial action plan update led by Melanie Madden, Staff Council chair and program manager for curricular affairs in Academic Administration. Madden moderated a forum last month with University President Robert C. Robbins, interim Chief Financial Officer John Arnold and interim Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Ronald Marx. A recording of the Feb. 27 forum can be found on the Staff Council website.

Madden is also a member of the newly formed University Advisory Council, which is a group of faculty, staff and students that offers guidance to the president on matters of significance to the University, particularly when subjects of great urgency or delicacy require immediate consultation regarding the welfare and effectiveness of the University.

Council members will also hear updates on the approval process for Staff Council bylaws and an upcoming conference hosted by Arizona Women in Higher Education.

The Staff Council is a shared governance organization that represents University Staff and Classified Staff. The council normally meets via Zoom the last Tuesday of each month throughout the year. Meetings are open to all employees.

More information about the Staff Council can be found on the council's website. Anyone interested in becoming a Staff Council representative can apply online. Those who want more information can contact Melanie Madden.
